Sorry, another one of the sad HOW TO questions. My glove box mechanism has come off and the strut seems to dangle inside the cavity - out of reach. I have removed every screw visible in the glove box, under the carpet, under the left clip and where the hinges are. The thing still just won't move. What am I missing?

Thanks

Michael

I,ve just removed my glovebox from my S1. 2 No. screws on the fromt edge and a further 2 screws on the back edge . I also removed the screw holding the gas strut (Not working). You have to play with the opening mechanism to release the front edge from the dash. Once removed there is a electrical connector for the glovebox light to disconnect. Hope this is of Help. There is also a screw behind the lock escutcheon, prise it off with a small screwdriver and you will see the screw just under the lock.

Sorry, I don't now what you mean with the lock screw. I got the box out, what a pain but now, of course it doesn't want to snap into place again in the front. I think I must make up a special tool to fit it into place. It is such a poor design, the lcok mechanism is always in the way and in in risk of being damaged. THis has clearly been designed in such a way that it is fitted into the front dash while it was still outside of the vehicle. Nightmare for a job that should be so simple!
