I have a weird issue thats become apparent since ive started using the headlights, everytime I turn them off the alarm siren "squeals" for a few seconds, now I know that the headlights are on the alarm circuit as they flash when the alarm sounds, but whats going on, it sounds like a pig whenever i turn the bloody lights off, and is quite embarrassing!!!!!
Anyone any ideas?? Cheers Steve -------------------- XM 2.0i Turbo Exclusive '97, Green

just cheat... turn off the siren! under the bonnet, to the off side just behind the headlamp, is a switch which the key is needed for. just turn it like the ignition and this disengages the siren. the rest of the alarm system is not affected.
who needs the alarm anyway - has anybody heard of an XM being stolen ? -------------------- 2.5td Exclusive - Emerald green of course

Hi Gav and All
You may well have set 97xxx looking for a non existant alarm switch. By 97 Citroen had altered the immobiliser by adding a second code and removing the manual isolation switch. I am seriously thinking about putting a 95 ECU in my 97 estate to see if this gets over the problem of missing main code and regular false alarms. Funny you should mention that! A neighbour had a 2 litre Onyx stolen from a layby near his home! It only had 3 tyres with air in them. a lot of stuff under the bonnet dismantled so as to fit an ignition sensor and one day it was there, the next day it had gone! It will presumably end up as scrap in a yard many miles away. I had suggested that he contacted DVLA to see if they have any record of its location now. -------------------- Xantia 2 litre HDi Saloon X reg 1999

an unusual backwards step for citroen... i've found the feature of turning off the siren quite useful, especially during the winter when the electrics seem to play up.
maybe these vehicles are more sort after by the deranged car thief than i thought. -------------------- 2.5td Exclusive - Emerald green of course
