Hi All

Those of us who have tried repairing XM plastic trim often have problems in making a lasting repair. I have found a glue that works well with ABS injection moulded plastic components. These have the letters ABS moulded somewhere on them. So far I have repaired wing mirror shells and the 3 bonnet scuttle trim panels with 100% sucess rate. I have used the glue that plummers use for solvent weld waste fittings. This melts the plastic and forms a joint as strong as the original material. It also seems to take on the colour of the component.
So far I have refitted broken mirror shell upstands ( the 3 plastic projections the mirror frame screws into) , repaired a 80mm split to a mirror shell and rejoined the 2 halves of a split front frame of a wing mirror. On the main scuttle trim I have refixed the broken plastic spiggots that hold the front of the trim in place. On the 2 side trims I have rewelded the little plastic clips on the underside that hold it in place.

Regards

Hi Peter

I thought you had spent a lifetime breathing lead fumes from soldering.
I see Citroen Cars have just put a Green 2.1 TD estate on ebay starting at £500.
