I believe that the Anti-sink and the split multi stage pump was introduced with the initial production run of 1995 model year MK2 2.5TD's. These were available in the UK from May 1994. It was only in later years that these features were included on the other model XM's. From the limited range of other model MK2's that I have owned I know that 1995 model year Mk2 2.0TCT's & 2.1TD's and 1996 model year V6 autos retained the old Mk1 pump and had no anti-sink fitted.
