Hi Chris that sounds as though you have a leaky water pump seal .
Be careful because there is probabley not much lubricant left in the bearing that the pump runs on and it can fail.
This may leave you with no tension on your timing /cam belt with nasty results.
I had a similar problem with a Toyota Yes they do break.
Best regards Bob biggrin.gif

Hi wingnut.

YES as bobtee says, water pump it is!

Its a rather involved job though, if not mechanicly minede, as the water pump IS driven by the Cam Belt (Timing belt), so with two birds in one go, its logical to get the Cam belt changed at the same time as the belt..

I have not yet done a 2.1td, so not 100 per cent sure of access, I've only done 1.9td Xantias..

I dont think the 2.1 has balencer shafts like the 2.5 does, so this makes it easyer.

Hi Chris

Unfortunatly, I have. Getting it off is not to involved but getting to the mating face on the block to clean the old bits of gasket off is! You will need an old but fairly sharp wood chisel, a Stanley knife and a Stanley knife blade. You need a good light to be able to see what you are doing and a very flexible neck. It is imperative that you get all the old gasket off as you wont want to take it all apart again if it leaks! mad.gif
