I have finally got round (after 2 and a half years of ownership..) to putting my Exclusive in for its MOT..

It was failed on a strut leak off pipe (which I knew about) and a dead brake light.. by the time this is read these will most likely be fixed

However it appears to have a leak from the steering rack pipes? this has been issued as an advisory, along with slight play in the NS inner track rod joint. TBH theres a lot of fuid around the rack where the pipes go in, so its hard to say where its comming from, and it's either a fery very small highpressure leak or its on the low pressure side. The other advisory is on deterioration of the front brake flexi pipes, these I already have at home, just wondering how these are bled? as I imagine the normal methods won't really work!

On the inner track rod, could this be the cause of the front end knocking noise the car has? I have alsways assumed that this was an antiroll bar drop link or bush, but never managed to find one faulty when I had the front end up

Hi Zaphod,

After suffering from a leak at those two pipes for longer than I can remember I finally managed to stop it. I replaced the two steel pipes with two cupronickel pipes. It has never leaked since.

cheers

The rattle probably is droplinks, you can't normally feel the play unless you disconnect them, the wear on the inner rack joint would show up as a rattle on the steering.

Bleeding the brakes is easy.

Engine running,
Prop a piece of wood on the brake pedal,
Put tube on bleed nipple the other end going into the resovoir under bonnet,
Open bleed nipple and let fluid run till no more bubbles,
Close bleed nipple,
remove tube.

Repeat for other side,

Remove wood from brake pedal.

JOB DONE.
