Hello all - been lurking for a little while now so have decided to join in the merry banter! I had an XM about 5 years ago and loved it to bits but along came a company car and it had to go. The new owner lobbed it into a field and wrote it off! The company car has now gone and I hanker after another XM. I have a van for work so it won't be a car that has to start at 0600 hrs on a frosty morning. I hope to join in - just got to buy one now!

Hi
WELCOME to our mad house!! Well, an early starter, you really need one of the two SUPER diesels then, if you can find a good one with sensible milage.. (I do have a Series one SED with a cracking engine, but need sills for MOT, other then that nothing else!!! Even the Air con would work with a regas) Sorry bit of self advertising there.. But any way, Diesel the way, for 40mpg too... Good luck with your search... Regards citroenxm -------------------- 1993 K Reg 3.0 V6 12 Valve Auto (Green) LPG S1.5 SORNd

Thanks citroenxm for the welcome. No harm in a bit of advertising - where are you located?

Hi Bitontheside.
If you don't score with Citroenxm's motor, have a gander at Ebay -- it's relatively awash with them at the moment. Mike. -------------------- XM 2.5VSX Estate RP 7185

Hi bitontheside,
Hope you like it here. Good member number by the way, I wonder if Noz has thought of selling the interesting numbers? I've not been here that long myself, but from day one everyone has been really friendly and helped out with answers to questions. Good luck with the hunt for a suitable XM; there seems to be a fair selection on Ebay presently if citroenxm hasn't tempted you with his S1. I got my car from Ebay and think I got a good'un. Hi bitontheside I'm in N WALES... Ebay is OK, but the DERV's tend to have done some miles as they do... Regards citroenxm -------------------- 1993 K Reg 3.0 V6 12 Valve Auto (Green) LPG S1.5 SORNd

I am xmless no longer! Bought the first one I saw - yeah, yeah I know but it is spotless! A 1996 SX 16Valve. One single scratch about 25mm and the inside is unmarked. Only drawback is that the previous owner smoked and I don't so a session with the air freshners is needed.
87,000 on the clock which is backed up by the MOT certs. Not full service history but the early records are all main dealer. MOT due next August - tax next Feb Tow bar fitted by the bloke I bought it off to tow a small trailer for his fishing gear. Trailer was parked next to the car so no dirty big caravan lurking! Paid £550 for it. I'm sat here with a big smug grin on! Now, what disaster awaits?????? I have posted a question in the help place - starter is very lazy - there is 14 volts going into the battery with the engine running - any ideas? Thanks to all for the welcomes - I hope to join in the merry banter! -------------------- 1996 SX16v Auto. Maroon

Hi bitontheside
WELL DONE.. may we help all we can.. If its anything like the V6's, they suffer lazy starters a lot due to the heat from the front bank exhaust.. (My theory anyway) Replacement starter my only sugestion, which no doubt would be same as any Citroen Petrol engine 4 cylinder... So should be pleanty to choose from.. Congratulations on your acquisition bitontheside,
You know its the beginning of a slow, slippery slide into insanity from here!!! Regarding your starter; now I'm not sure if this 1970's fix on a '60's car would be appropriate for our 1980's technology, but what I used to do in my skinflint days was new carbon brushes and clean the commutator. Lets see if any of the XM gurus agree it's a viable proposition first though, I don't want you to merrily strip the starter out on my say so.... All I'll say is it worked a treat on my old Mk1 Cortina... Happy daze! Loopy -------------------- 1991 2.0 Si Auto.
