Hi
The drivers door window on my S2 2.5TD is dead. All other windows are operating fine, no other electrical issues.

The other day I noticed that (after 2 other people had driven it) the pair of window switches in the door had been pushed down (as if someone had pushed on them to reposition themselves in the seat) - their carrier wasn't sitting right and the one touch button was jammed against trim.

It's possible that the switch had been in 'window up' position for some time.

I assume the control box for it will have prevented the motor being burned out... hopefully.

Is there a resettable trip? I'd expect it to just be a self resetting thermal thing if anything.
I've never had a one touch switch fail, do they?
What about the control unit - is it part of the window lift in an S2, or is there another box somewhere?

wink.gif No aircon in this one.. an urgent fix sadly.

Any insights?

Hi

Switches for drivers one touch are electrically different to the rest of the XM windows.
When pressed they send a pulse signal to the control box.
The control box monitors current flow and shuts down on overload.
It also does the clever anti-pinch stuff if fitted.

There is a single fuse feed to both front window winders.
If the front passenger window works its not the fuse or relay.

I suggest you lever out the switches and check the wire plugs are correctly seated.
It may be that the connections got disturbed.

If the car just has one touch the control box is screwed to the back of the door trim panel just above the "puddle" light.
If the car has anti-pinch the control box is integrated into the window winder motor.

thanks for the reply

I'd had the switches out already - connections are sound now, although when I pulled it out the one touch connector wasn't on straight.. Yes passenger window is operating - so it's either the switch or the one touch box, or perhaps the motor. Presumably the 'normal open close' operation of the one touch goes through the control box anyway?

I'll pull the switch from the silver one to check it.

No idea if it's got anti-pinch, silver one has I think.
