hi
I tried to open the glovebox this evening. There was a slight snapping noise, and the lever just flaps about now. So how do I get at the latches to unlock them? I think they should push left to unlatch, but I don't know how to get at them. Maybe I need to drill a hole for access, in which case, where...? Anyone got a spare glove box openng lever? car is a 2.1TD, late series 1. cheers Russell |

Hi Russ
Try sliding a thin strip of plastic between the lid and the base. Do this at the latch end and the slide it towards the passenger side door. If you are lucy you should come up against the first of the two teeth the latch the lid down. They are joined by a plastic rod so pushing either one to the left should release the lid. Sorry but broken glove box latches are a regular fault on Mk1's. Regards XMexc -------------------- An interest in 2.5TD's.

Hi,
Another way of getting the glove box open is to leave the problem for your wife. Apparently SWMBO just used the ignition key as a screwdriver. To my suprise she has opened the box, and the key is still in one piece, and not bent. The glove box is now filled with books to stop it closing. I don't know how to get the key back. cheers Russ |
