Hi

I have XM '94 with semi automatic climatising and I have now big problem. During the winter I put my cabin temp at 26 C and work fine. Now, spring is coming and I have problem, XM does not want to stop heat cabine. I try to change front AC panel in cabin, and no change, try to change electric panel at cabin fan and no change. Check fuse and was ok. Now I have sauna in my XM (only need to find cold water http://club-xm.com/forum/style_images/1/icon8.gif
http://club-xm.com/forum/style_images/1/icon8.gif). One more I have problem with my temp sensor. When I drive fast temp is going lower (outside temp is 18C and my temp said 4 and going down).

Any suggestion to find solution to bad situation.

Thanks.

Hi Zoran,

Inside the heater box there is a flap which is controlled by a small motor. The flap decides whether the air from the fan is directed through the heater matrix or bypasses it. It sounds like the small motor or the flap is jammed. The type of the motor means that the current can flow through the windings even if it is stuck and the motor will not burn out. Therefore, the motor is probably still OK. Once I found that my flap motor was stuck. I removed it from the heater housing and operated the flap manually and sprayed some oil on the pivot. I also operated the motor forwards and backwards to check the motor operation. I then put the motor back on the heater flap and since then it has worked OK.

If the temperature of the engine falls when you go fast then your main thermostat is stuck open. Does the engine take a long time to warm up in the winter? I suggest removing the thermostat from the car and checking it. You can check it by putting it into a ketle of boiling water.

Hope that helps

Cheers
