Hi all
Following the epic head gasket job I'm not sure if I have missed a pipe. Any ideas one of the pipes is capped off but the other is open to the air intake box .
Car did a 369 London trip with no problems !! I did notice that when cold you the water level is quite low in the expansion tank. But if you fill it when cold after the next run it's back to the same level!! No signs of a leak or water in the oil .
Regards
Phil

Hi Phil, one is capped the other is a breather,so no doubt will be loafing somewhere.I've found on my 2 that if you overfill it will be ejected with no indication through the overflow line and the level will settle just below the indicator plate in the header never to need topping up again.

Is there something wrong here?
Glancing through the previous mail I did not see any correction of the assumption that No. 4 was at the gearbiox end. Surely ALL Citroen transverse engines have thei No. 1 cylinder identified as being at the gearbox end? This being a carry-over from the D model which had the gerbox at the front of the logitudinal engine?
I am willing and ready to be corrected!

Hi Techmanagain, posting by Noz, 30 June clearly confirms #1 as G/box end and postings in the topic on crank timing hole confirm #4 as timing end.

Phil, one of the holes is for turbo gauge sensor (if fitted), and the other one is for automatic gearbox. If you missed the second one, probably you'll break the gearbox when downshifting 4-3. If you do not have both of them, there must be a cap on the spare outlet.

Hi Phil,Lez is correct, but yours as an S2 will not have a boost gauge and thus will be capped. As for auto box yours is a diesel and will not have a vacuum actuator, so no tap off the inlet plenum,it uses the stepdown cable to reposition the throttle valve in the g/box.

Robert,
there is vacuum (actually it is pressure boost) actuator inside gearbox on all turbo models. The pipe goes to g/b casing above oil interheater, and inside the gearbox continues with steel piping to hydraulic block.
You are right - if the car is S2, there is no turbo gauge, so there should be a cap.
