Excuse me if I say something stupid. Is Norrie the same person as Noz?
Anyway, I acquired Norrie's 2003 manual on CD some time ago, but I don't know how and where to get another copy for a brother in arms. Is it OK if I just copy the CD and mail it to him? I'll do that for free, of course.

Yes, Norrie is Noz.

I think it's best for Noz to answer your question re: copying the disc as it is he who put the effort into scanning all the documents and compiling the indices.

Yes. I am awaiting his reply and instructions.

Hello Norrie, are you still sending out your discs all over the world? How can we order them? Can they be downloaded from the net?

Something I've missed - which manual is it and what's the cost for a
CD posted or is it a download?

Someone in the UK is selling the CD on Ebay. It's exactly the same one Norrie has made available. I wouldn't be surprised if the Ebay guy is just copying Norrie's work.

Hi All

Early next week ebay will start to remove all ads for cd material or email files to prevent rip off merchants using ebay to sell copies of copyright material. They estimate that this is less than 3% of present ads but that is a hell of a lot of adverts so they must be well geared up for the change.

Without wishing to pre-empt Noz's response, if I had compiled the info then this is what would really grip my *$%^*!!

Hi all,

Sorry, I must have missed this thread.

Yes, the manual is still available on CD. One for the Series 1 models and one for the Series 2. There are a few people copying the S2 manual and selling it on ebay. They have been doing this for a while and I complained to ebay but of course got nowhere.

If anyone is interested please drop me a PM or email.

Cheers

I have an XM manual on CD which I bought from www.workshopmanuals.co.uk
I think it was £10. I have tried to copy it onto disc but it won't permit that somehow.
You can download it as many times as you like though, I've copied it onto 4 computers. If anyone wants to borrow it to download THEN RETURN IT TO ME I'd be happy to do that FOC

Ahem jackyboy,

I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that you didn't read the previous posts before you left your little jem. The gist of the above, for your edification, is that I painstakingly scanned over 3000 pages from the citroen factory manuals for the XM which took me many months. Each page was scanned individually without the use of a multipage feeder since most of the pages formed parts of booklets. I sold a copy to someone who promptly started selling copies on ebay. From there the manual spread all over the world (albeit an old version with fewer pages). The members of this site and XM-L have been remarkably loyal and have, as far as I can tell, refrained from buying the manuals from the cheapskate rip-off merchants. For that I am most humbled. In return I devote my time and effort to the running of this forum and the dissemination of all types of self help information.

What you have just done is first of all bought the manual from the said scum. Then you've come to my home and offered to give it away free to anyone for the asking. Would it make any sense to you to understand that I might not be best pleased with that scenario?

In light of this I would ask you to reconsider your last post and edit it accordingly.

Thanks.

Just being in Devil's advocate mode ---- and not at all knocking Noz's sterling efforts ---- surely in reality the intellectual property / copyright resides with Citroen ??

I'm morally torn on your argument, however I believe you're probably factually correct.
However, if such a product was available from Citroen, then the moral argument dissolves.

Hi All

I suggest that we drop this thread as the issue cannot actually be solved unless we all go out and buy original documents. The Citroen listed prices for the XM set total around £860 for the documents plus £100 for the binders. I would put up a copy of the catalogue but unfortunately it has Citroen copyright restriction notices on front and rear covers.
