I now have all the bits to convert my 2.0i prestige. But I am having a problem locating a suitable poistion for the vaporiser. I know there are some LPG V6 cars, and these have much less spare space then a 4 pot so was wondering if anyone had a picture of such an engine bay?

Yes BOTH my V6 Series ones are on LPG... A link to the picture here: http://s78.photobucket.com/albums/j113/cit...24EngineRev.flv Its not on GAS there, the way I'd fed the feed pipe it wouldn't work, it had to have a Mixer unit on it.. it is actually a Video but you can see the Vaporiser in the Top right of the Vid! Its a tight squeeze but fits between the PUMP and LHM tank Enjoy! I am about to install lpg to my V6. I intend to bolt the reducer to the battery box as there is space available to the left of the box for the reducer and associated pipework. I struggled to see an obvious and easily accessed piece of bodywork for it up near the the lhm tank where I could drill a hole and get to the back of it to tighten up the nut.

Interesting, I had been lead to belive the vaporiser had to be moutned normal to the bulkhead rather than paralell like you have it. The reason given was acceleration and decleration could upset it. I assume you have not had any such issues?

Assich and Zaphod
The vaporiser was installed exactly were it is on the car I removed it from originally.. I dont have any problems what so ever with performance!! Assich. I fail to see on a V6 how you can have space next to the battery tray.. I Have the Air Con Dryer unit and the ignition items nextto my battery, and the air cleaner on the other side. It would be interesting to see your engine bay in full.. Regards citroenxm -------------------- 1993 K Reg 3.0 V6 12 Valve Auto (Green) LPG S1.5 SORNd

Photos as requested (hope this works as first time doing this). It's not that obvious but there is a reasonable amount of space there. Indeed the largest hole available under the bonnet as far as I reckon. Yes the aircon unit is there as well but for the reducer I have there is sufficient space for it too.

Assich,
Ah your cheating... You have a 60 deg V6 24v Series 2.. I have a V6 90 deg 24v. That may explain the more space under the bonnet...! Your images didn't work on mine... It just comes up with a box saying, User posted image.. Regards citroenxm -------------------- 1993 K Reg 3.0 V6 12 Valve Auto (Green) LPG S1.5 SORNd

Yes, unfortunately the photos didn't work but I now have membership at photobucket.com so should be able to put then up this evening.
Yes 90 degree, I didn't realise this made such a difference. I heard at the weekend that you can now get inserts to sit in front of the petrol injectors which have the nozzle on them for the gas. Anyone else heard of these and where to get them. |

Ah Assich
Your talking a Sequencial Gas injection?? With gas injection as appose to single point mixer as on mine! I think gas injection have a smaller, much smaller, evaporator, as you can see in mine my evaporator is large, but sists nicly... Currently at 40p a litre down here in N Wales, I fill my tank for 28 quid and get about 270miles from it.. It is turned up a bit so I dont loose too much performance, but its still cheeeeeppp!! Yes reducer is smaller as far as I can tell. My problem seems to be finding somewhere suitable for the liquid lpg filter and solenoid. It's normally fitted in the engine bay but I am now thinking of fitting it under the rear end beside the toroidal tank I am fitting.
It's currently 43p a litre up here in Inverness. I had a Grand Cherokee before with lpg and at 20 mpg it always put a smile on my face when I filled up with lpg for less than half price. Looking forward to it again. I intend to put my MG Midget on the road for the summer before I start the XM conversion and thus have transport to take the manifold in to be drilled and tapped for each of the injectors. |

And here it is fitted.
![]() The above picture shows the location of the individual injectors, the gas filter against the bulkhead feeding them and the reducer feeding it. You can't see it but there is a solenoid on the reducer at the other side of the air intake pipe. The injectors feed each nozzle screwed into the fron of the upper inlet manifold underneath the grey abs cover. This left space under the upper manifold to connect all the wiring cutting into the petrol injectors. ![]() The above picture shows the reducer more clearly along with it's coolant feed and return pipes and it's gas bleed off returns to the air filter box. ![]() The above picture shows the lpg control unit and it's computer connector for programming. ![]() The above picture shows the coolant pipework coming off the heater coolant hoses and if you look closely it also shows the liguid lpg filter and solenoid (blue) down below attached to the bulkhead cross reinforcement box section. ![]() The above picture shows the underslung tank and filler on the towbar. Overall as per usual for an xm quite a few items under the bonnet required to be removed to fit the kit which made it a longer job than the last time I did one. |

Well gas injection.. I must go that way myself if I could ever afford an DIY kit to fit my 24v S1!! I like it.. and you wont get a problem with "Spit back" explosions which I've had many and the final one this weekend blew my intake pipe to simthereens!! Nice job! Got the 2.0i on gas some time back now, getting 280-300 miles to a fill (48 litres) Had one blowback, but that just blew the intel off the air filter housing. Paying 34p/ litre (on county wide farmers account) Done 1500 miles now currnetly running open loop as I still have to fit the lambda probe to the exhaust (Pre cat car! higher compresion!) And see how it goes thn, currntly going great, wish it was a V6 though.
I ended up making a braket tath runs from the bulkhead to the air duct mounting by the battry tray. This has the vaporiser and the coilpack bloted to it. The vaporiser is attached amost directlyto the themostat housing outlet forthe heater, the haeter pipeattchaed with not cuts or mods to the vaporiser outlet. Mixer is mounted internaly intha air ducting, this also has some new plumbing for the Idle conreol valve and the idle stabalisation valve, so they suck mixture not air! One pluspoint.. its so cheap to run now it makes the 2.1 td look expensive! Stewart -------------------- Of all the things I have lost I think I miss my mind the most
